The Clipperz Workgroup Edition Pledge Program is an order system in which you may pledge your support for the development of a new version of Clipperz aimed to small and medium companies and organizations that need a password manager for their workforce and for sharing confidential data both internally and externally (clients, consultants, …).
What is Clipperz Workgroup Edition
Clipperz is currently targeting individuals that need to securely and privately manage passwords and other sensitive data, but is also frequently used within businesses that appreciate its security and convenience.
However the current version of Clipperz, that we will call Clipperz Personal Edition, is far from being the right tool for storing, managing and transmitting credentials and other confidential information within a group of co-workers.
Clipperz Workgroup Edition will extend the set of features of the Personal Edition to allow an administrator to manage users and groups while maintaining the uncompromising zero-knowledge architecture and the security level of the Personal Edition.

While the Personal Edition is free, and we are planning to keep it this way, we are going to offer the Workgroup Edition both as a paid hosted service and a licensed software package to be installed on the client premises.
Why committing a pledge
The development of the Workgroup Edition is quite challenging and it will require a fairly large amount of resources for analysis, design and implementation. In particular, a major refactoring of the cryptographic foundations is required to allow secure in-app sharing.
The Clipperz team has not enough resources to invest in its development and therefore is asking companies and organizations interested in the Workgroup Edition to commit a pledge in exchange for a very generous user license with unlimited upgrades and other benefits (see table below).
Completion of the first release of Clipperz Workgroup Edition will require 6-9 months. However you will be able to try out early releases as the project progresses for your testing and feedback.
How the Pledge Program works
Pledges are a promise to donate a specific amount of money when and if the funding goal of 75,000 Euros is reached. If the goal is not met, no money will exchange hands.

- You are free to choose among the hosted service and the software package to be installed on your server. In the first case you will be granted a forever free plan for the number of users linked to the pledged amount. If you prefer to run Clipperz Workgroup Edition on your own server, you get the right to any future upgrade.
- We respect your privacy and security concerns and therefore you can ask not to be listed in the backer page on the Clipperz website.
- If the funding goal is met and your pledge converts into a payment we will send you a proper invoice for the pledged amount.
- Pledges should be submitted by March 31, 2012.
